It Takes a Village and Wu Yee Children's Services
PLAY Leadership partnered with It Takes A Village (ITAV) and Wu Yee Children’s Services starting in 2021—refurbishing over 63,000 N95s, sewing thousands of children’s fabric masks, and rejoining in December 2023 for Wu Yee’s holiday toy drive. Wu Yee (founded in 1977 to provide free, year-round childcare in San Francisco) and ITAV (founded in 2021 to supply PPE) emphasized that toys are vital play-based learning tools for ages 0–5—especially for the underprivileged families they serve, 15% of whom are unhoused—with this year’s drive distributing 1,500+ toys. Looking ahead, PLAY expects to collaborate again on activities such as tours of childcare centers, a backpack drive, a newborn drive, and the annual toy drive.
Agape Silicon Valley
PLAY Leadership has long partnered with Agape Silicon Valley—formed four years ago with a mission to enhance the standard of living of the unhoused, especially the most vulnerable—on a monthly, multi-hour distribution where volunteers sort hygiene kits, clothing, food, and other donations at the Cathedral of Faith parking lot before splitting into teams to deliver supplies to encampments. Todd Langton emphasizes that in-person interaction is essential, building trust and joy while powerfully influencing volunteers (especially youth) by teaching service, breaking stereotypes, and creating a meaningful experience.
