Backpack Drive

Over the summer, PLAY Leadership collected stationary donations from members, including but not limited to pencils, notebooks, and markers, to contribute towards an annual backpack drive. Collectively, about 600 of each item was raised, and then organized on August 2nd, the day of the drive. Upon arriving, volunteers quickly and effectively loaded items into backpacks and duffel bags in an organized fashion, before they opened for cars to come in.

As cars rolled through the drive through, volunteers counted and passed out the backpacks of supplies, briefly conversing and getting to know some of the people they helped out and worked with. They also marked cars to keep track of which cars had received backpacks and supplies and ensure that a fair amount of each backpack was kept track of. The extra backpacks left over at the end of the drive were given to another organization to distribute and keep track of. This was a really big event, and we couldn’t have done it without all of our volunteers. Thank you, and make sure to look out for next year’s Backpack Drive!
